Honolulu Scuba Company has an extremely diverse and experienced pool of instructional talent. The most popular scuba certifications are made easy to find elsewhere on this scuba diving school website. Additional scuba training programs and other scuba industry related programs that we offer are listed here. Individual specialty courses are typically the most common inquiry, and those courses are generally $125 plus the cost of boat charters. However, as you can see from the list of scuba programs and courses on this page there are many, many options. Some of the more specialized training programs are only offered with considerable advance planning, as the instructors will generally have significant other commitments inside or outside of the scuba industry. If you see a training program or course here that you are interested in, please contact us. We will be happy to work with you. ### Training Programs • Dive Supervisor • Divemaster • Open Water Scuba Instructor • Specialty Instructor • Advanced Open Water Instructor • Divemaster Instructor • Master Instructor • Instructor Trainer • Instructor Certifier • Freediving Instructor • Lifeguard Instructor • Swimming Instructor • Tec40 CCR Instructor • Tec60 CCR Instructor • Tec100 CCR Instructor • Scuba Equipment Technician • Dive Medical Technician • Visual Cylinder Inspector • Public Safety Diver • Trimix Blender • Dive Center Operations Management • Dive Industry Marketing • Dive Boat Captain • Vessel Maintenance ### Individual Courses • Honu (Turtle) • Fish ID • Underwater Digital Imaging • Boat Diver • Underwater Naturalist • Emergency O2 Provider • HSC 2100 Emergency First Response • Lifeguard • Nitrox Blender • Underwater Communications • Underwater Criminal Investigator • Swim Teacher • Search and Recovery • Deep Diver • Night Diver • DPV Diver • Boat Diver • Drift Diver • Self Reliant Diver • Equipment Specialty • Compressor Maintenance • Underwater Naturalist • Shore Diver • Perfect Buoyancy Diver • Scuba Ranger for kids Call Us Today! --- ## Specialty Courses URL: https://honoluluscubacompany.com/certifications/specialty-courses/ # Specialty Courses ## Nitrox Diver Certification What will you do? • Discuss managing oxygen exposure • Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank • Set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox What will you need? • Course materials (included) • Diving is not required to earn this certification Would you like more bottom time on your next dive? Dives on air have pretty short repetitive dive times, which is disappointing when you are diving in exciting environments that beg to be explored, like Oahu’s wrecks. You may be interested in our SSI Nitrox course. This course teaches you how to conduct dives with up to 40% of the mix being oxygen and the rest nitrogen. This mix allows you to stay down longer and save energy during your dives, which is a real treat when exploring Oahu’s wrecks! If you are not Nitrox certified, getting that certification has never been easier or more fun. The complete Nitrox dive course is taken online and the only requirement for certification when you show up at the shop is to practice analyzing the oxygen content of a Nitrox tank using the proper equipment, which takes about 10 minutes. Included in the price of our Honolulu dive course you receive one Nitrox tank for your dive on any boat charter, and if you want an additional NITROX tank for your course it’s only $10. (Regular NITROX tank price is $15 per tank). If you’re a (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course. Note that in some regions the minimum age is older than 12. ##### Learning Options We offer two ways to handle the knowledge development portion of the class. 1. Classroom : This option is perfect for those who prefer a structured classroom environment. 2. eLearning : Knock out the knowledge portion on your own time with PADI eLearning. Bill Scuba Certification Program URL: https://honoluluscubacompany.com/certifications/veterans-g-i-bill-scuba-certification-program/ # Veteran’s G.I. Bill Scuba Certification Program NAUI is proud to announce that you can use your G.I. Bill ®  to pay for many of our scuba certifications and licenses. You can choose from a wide selection of programs we offer. Are you interested in learning to dive, improving your driving skills, and becoming a dive professional? The G.I. Bill ®  can help you accomplish this. Through this series of programs, you will learn the basics of diving and progress up this guided path to become a professional diver. We can help “Take You as Deep as You Want to Go!” This program is designed for veterans by veterans. Service members who qualify can be reimbursed for their certifications and licensing exams. Restrictions follow the same guidelines as the VA licensing and certification reimbursement program – please refer to this website: ###### https://www.va.gov/education/about-gi-bill-benefits/how-to-use-benefits/test-fees/ Service members can use one month of G.I. Bill® benefits per certification or license exam and can progress as far as they want. Service members can use up to one month to six months of benefits to get scuba certified or become an NAUI dive professional. ### Step 1 Learn about G.I. Bill®’s eligibility requirements and find out if you can get these benefits. VA education benefits can help you pay your tuition, pick out a school, choose a career, and more. If you’re an active-duty service member or Veteran, a member of the National Guard or Reserves, or a qualified survivor or dependent, find out if you can get VA education benefits through the G.I. Bill® and other educational assistance programs. ### Step 2 Apply for your G.I. Bill® benefits. How to apply for the G.I. Bill® and related benefits go to the VA website at:  https://www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply/  and follow the directions. If you have already applied for your benefits and just need to find out how many months of benefits you have left, please go to the VA website at:  https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill/post-9-11/ch-33-benefit/ . and follow the steps on how to check your benefits. Print out your VA statement of benefits you will need to take it to your NAUI-approved VA testing center.  ### Step 3 Find an NAUI-approved VA testing center near you by clicking this link:  https://www.naui.org/locate-dive-centers/  and (filter by Designation) scroll down until you find the NAUI VA testing center. Once you find an NAUI-Approved VA testing center take your VA statement of benefits you printed in  Step 2  to them and schedule the certification or license you to want to take. ### Step 4 Upon completion of all exams, the NAUI VA testing center will give you three documents and a presentation so you can submit them for your VA reimbursement. (all reimbursements from the VA are first come first serve but it is taking about 30 to 60 days to receive your reimbursement from the VA). ### Licenses Exams starting at $2,000 each • NAUI Instructor NES-VA001 • NAUI Assistant Instructor NES-VA002 • NAUI Divemaster NES-VA003 • NAUI Instructor Trainer NES-VA004 • NAUI Course Director NES-VA005 • Force Blue Scientific Diver NES-VA007 • Force Blue Assistant Scientific Diver NES-VA008 • Public Safety Diving NES-VA009 ### Certifications starting at $1,500 each • NAUI Basic Level Scuba Certification NES-VA010 • NAUI Advanced Level Scuba Certification NES-VA011 • Rescue Scuba Diver Certification NES-VA012 • Master Scuba Diver Certification NES-VA013 Book Now --- ## Master Certification (NAUI) URL: https://honoluluscubacompany.com/certifications/master-certification-naui/ # Master Certification (NAUI) ### Private Instruction Starting at $699 ### Semi-Private Starting at $599 ## Go Deeper, Dive Smarter Refine your dive skills and expand your underwater knowledge with the NAUI Master Scuba Diver course—our most advanced non-professional certification. Service members can begin the program with any level of scuba certification they may already have, or none at all! If you have a certification from another scuba agency, it can crossover to NAUI. The SkillBridge program allows the use of the G.I. Bill® to fund the certifications and licenses you will need to become a NAUI instructor and be able to make a career in the diving industry. Prerequisites: • 18+ years of age • high school diploma or equivalent • be able to swim 400m without stopping for rest, at any pace • general good health and average physical condition • must be able to obtain diving medical clearance from a physician • PADI Rescue Course or equivalent Participants must purchase a full set of personal dive equipment. A Divemaster PADI Scuba Certification from any dive shop has this as a requirement, as it is a standard for the PADI organization.  Full set of equipment included in the course cost. ##### Divemaster Course The divemaster rating is the first professional level rating in the PADI system of continuing education.  It is the first step in what is commonly referred to in the industry as “Living the Dream”.  Earning the divemaster rating means that you will be qualified to get paid to go scuba diving!  The most common role of the divemaster in the scuba industry is guiding certified divers on fun dives, but you will also learn to assist instructors with their teaching duties. Your presence as a certified assistant means that  instructors can safely handle more students. In addition, there are some courses that a Divemaster can conduct independently. Discover Local Diving and Skin Diver are two of those.  The standard schedule for a divemaster course is 22 hours a week spread over 7 weeks, evenings and weekends, for a total of 154 contact hours.  During this time you will develop significant knowledge of diving physics, physiology, the business of diving, leadership techniques, and much more.  Knowledge development will be re-enforced with a series of 8 written exams.  Students must demonstrate watermanship skills through timed testing.  Diving skills taught at the open water level are developed until the candidate is able to perform these skills at demonstration quality.  Candidates will practice their roles as certified assistants while participating in Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water courses under the direct supervision of an instructor.  Candidates will be assigned an underwater mapping project.  Rescue scenarios and evaluations are conducted.  Candidates will assist in teaching other continuing education programs.  All the while this is going on the candidate will be absorbing want it means to be a dive professional in an active business environment that conducts over 700 open water certifications a year from 5 locations around the island.  Candidates will be expected to participate in some of the less glamorous aspects of the business as well – humping tanks, setting up boats, rinsing dive gear – though you will not be asked to do anything that your instructor is not also doing.  You will get as much out of this program as you put into it, and opportunities abound to go beyond the minimum requirements for completing the course. ##### Pricing Considerations The pricing include a full set of professional level scuba equipment and it a large portion of course costs.  The purchase of this equipment is mandatory.  Email info@honoluluscubacompany.com  for complete details.  The course pricing also includes all learning materials and dives.  There is nothing more to buy.  It is a complete course cost. The quality of the program is simply higher at Honolulu Scuba Company. We provide more hands-on training with real certified divers than any other dive shop on the island, and assist you in becoming a real, not a “textbook” divemaster. You’re working directly with full time professional dive instructors at a real Oahu scuba diving tour company. You learn how to plan, lead, brief, and conduct dive trips. You will be able to handle the less experienced certified divers’ everyday problems without thinking twice by the end of your scuba diving training. If you want the real thing, here it is. ##### Time Commitment The time commitment for a divemaster course is significant.  154 hours is 22 hours a week for 7 weeks.  One should consider discussing this plan with significant others in your life before enrolling.  However, this is the minimum time commitment.  If you want to do more, that is a possibility.  Honolulu Scuba Company operates 7 days a week with 3 to 5 dive charters daily.  The goal oriented divemaster candidate that wants to go beyond the minimum requirements can often be accommodated.  The most common example of this is participating in guided dives during the weekdays.  Candidates that want to earn additional experience will be expected to shadow active dive instructors and divemasters in the duties and assist as their training level allows.  This can mean setting up and breaking down boats, maneuvering and filling tanks, transporting guests, boat handling, and acting as dive buddies and Rescue Divers during diving operations. ##### Learn More Contact the training director for more information or to begin a conversation info@honoluluscubacompany.com #### Student: $7954 Book Now #### Subtitle ## Ready for Adventure? Part of Honolulu Scuba Company’s retail footprint is dedicated to a service center.  During most weekday hours you will be able to ask to speak to a technician who will be in the back at one of our workbenches.  Frankly, you will not find this in most dive shops and you may find out that your gear is being shuffled around the island to some place off site.  That will not happen here.  We complete, and stand behind, our own work. Come ask for a 2 minute tour at 670 Auahi Street – Honolulu Scuba Company. #### How does gear servicing work at Honolulu Scuba Company? Simple, when you drop off your items you will be charged for the labor for service at that time.  Currently, $44 per stage. Parts will be charged when you pick up your regulator, of course if you have a regulator with free parts you should bring the regulator in with the appropriate documentation about the free parts you received at purchase. #### How long does equipment servicing take? If we have the parts in stock, (and we have a lot of parts in stock), then your regulator should be completed in two weeks. Regulators that need repairs that may require us to order parts, the technician will communicate that with you.  Visual inspections are one week or less, but hydrostatic tests, (required every 5 years for tanks), may be up to three weeks. #### Can I get same day service for my scuba equipment? We offer you the opportunity to make a service booking in advance. To schedule the booking, please contact our service manager, Ryan Poynter, at the email address provided below or by calling  808-201-4711 ext: 1014. Let us know which regulator model or gear type you are bringing in when you fill out the appointment form. Turn in your equipment in before 10am the day of your appointment, and we will have it done by 4pm same day. There is no fee for booking the service, however normal service rates apply. Email our Service Center Manager 2 weeks ahead of the same day service date of your choice: repair@honoluluscubacompany.com #### 3 Reasons to Have Your Regulator Serviced 1. You can’t remember the last time you did it.  Don’t worry, you are not the first or the last to admit this.  However, if you can’t remember when the last service had been, then you definitely need a service. 2. You are not as diligent as you should be about cleaning your regulator after every dive.   We get it, you just had some epic dives and the last thing you want is to spend time cleaning your gear like you should.  So instead you do a quick dunk in the tank and call it good. Sorry to burst your bubble, but is sticky stuff.  If you don’t clean your equipment as you should, then your regulator could probably use some service.  Bring it to us and we will make it like new. 3. Things just don’t feel right.   The truth is that even the most expensive regulators can start to act strange after several dives.  This is even more true if you dive often or are relaxed with cleaning.   At the first sign of trouble, come in and let us take a look.  It may just be a lose screw or it could be something bigger… either way, we will fix you up and have you out diving with confidence in no time. --- ## Contact Us URL: https://honoluluscubacompany.com/contact-us/ # Contact Us ### Phone (808) 201 - 4711 ### Email info@honoluluscubacompany.com repair@honoluluscubacompany.com ### Locations #### South Honolulu Scuba Company 670 Auahi St. A1 Honolulu, HI 96813 #### West HSC - West Waianae Small Boat Harbor 85-491 Farrington Hwy Waianae, HI 96792 Get Directions ## How can we help you today? First time divers attend a short academic session at our dive shop in Honolulu, followed by in-water practice, and a guided scuba tour by one of our friendly, professional instructors. ##### 4 Reasons to Discover Scuba with Us: 1. Equipment:  Our equipment is replaced annually with new state of the art dive equipment, including dive computers free of charge. 2. Experience:  Our scuba instructors dive just about every day. They not only know the waters surrounding Honolulu, but also how to safely instruct non-divers in the water. 3. Standards:  We adhere to the strict standards of our certification organizations. 4. Fun:  We love what we do, and we want to show off our beautiful island.  Come with us, and you’ll see more than just sand! Book Now ---
